Even further from the madding crowd...

NAMAQUA HORSE TRAILS

Training Zorse

March 2009

Zorse chopped defensively with his front legs, so Ann used a glove on a stick to teach him to accept being touched while she remained safely out of his reach.

Zorse accepts the glove, though not very happily.

Zorse learning to be touched by a hand.

Zorse preferred to be worked from the muzzle upwards and only on his left side.

"Join up" is achieved, though under protest.

April 2009

"It's empty, Zorse!" Ann removes all distractions from the camp before lessons start.

Zorse is more relaxed about being touched.

Zorse's training proceeds one stripe at a time.

Ann makes sure that Zorse can be touched all over.

Starting work on Zorse's difficult side.
